![]() ![]() It's a neat trick to make the main character die (mostly) and then be "reborn," but it takes an author who can manipulate emotions skillfully to do it more than once. Zanja is not alone in her quest-she becomes friends with other magicians who play vital parts in the war effort: Emil Paladin, a fire elemental Norina Truthken, an air elemental and a reader of truth the seer Medric, whose magic may be fire and the mage Karis, whose very life is a puzzle. As sole survivor, Zanja becomes a resistance fighter, aiding the Shaftali with her premonitions (the gift of fire elementals) and her determination to survive. What was not her war suddenly becomes personal when the Sainnites turn on her people and obliterate them in one night's battle. Into this war comes Zanja na'Tarwein, speaker for the people of the Ashawala'i, a woman who holds the power of elemental fire. The land of Shaftal, occupied by the nasty Sainnites, has just lost its Earth witch ruler and, in doing so, has seemingly lost the magic that the witch held. ![]() ![]() (1993), Marks has created a work filled with an intelligence that zings off the page. The use of magic to combat war has been used to drive fantasy plots since the genre began-some with tepid results, and some, as in this case, with compelling effectiveness. ![]()

Written from a consciously anti-enthnocentric approach, this fascinating work is a survey of the civilizations of the modern world in terms of the broad sweep and continuities of history, rather than the “event-based” technique of most other texts. “Refreshingly broad-brush in its approach…this history provides the big picture.”–The Christian Science Monitor. Boris Kulikov&’s inspired paintings help readers to understand what Louis lost, and what he was determined to gain back through books. The author who has already published two books had really good content for his third book but screwed up badly with his language and storytelling. It started with a high but ended with a series of disappointments. This theory/concept is known since eternity and hundreds of books are written, documentaries & movies are made around it, but seeing an Indian author writing a short and concise book caught my attention. I am a true believer of “What we think we become”. ![]() ![]() I too have felt despair many times in my life, but I do not keep a chair for it. There will always be times when you feel discouraged. ![]() ![]() If you would help to calm the tumult, this is one of the strongest things you can do. ![]() Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it. To display the lantern of soul in shadowy times like these - to be fierce and to show mercy toward others both are acts of immense bravery and greatest necessity. The light of the soul throws sparks, can send up flares, builds signal fires, causes proper matters to catch fire. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times. One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. We know that it does not take everyone on Earth to bring justice and peace, but only a small, determined group who will not give up during the first, second, or hundredth gale. ![]() What is needed for dramatic change is an accumulation of acts, adding, adding to, adding more, continuing. It is not given to us to know which acts or by whom, will cause the critical mass to tip toward an enduring good. Any small, calm thing that one soul can do to help another soul, to assist some portion of this poor suffering world, will help immensely. Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach. ![]() ![]() They’re making tackle after tackle after tackle and it hurts. ![]() “We’ve helped over 400 rugby league players since 2011. “Tramadol is the new drug of choice,” said the former Portsmouth manager, who battled addiction to drugs and alcohol throughout his playing career in the 1980s and 90s.
